What is the Estyn Llaw Scheme?

The Estyn Llaw scheme was established in 2000 to offer support and guidance to voluntary and community groups to increase their use of Welsh, and to encourage volunteering amongst Welsh speakers.

Estyn Llaw works with big and small organisations all over Wales, offering training and development services for the 3rd sector to allow service providers to do so in the service user’s choice of language.

Organisations in all parts of Wales are recognising the benefits of being able to offer services in both Welsh and English to the public in Wales, (with emphasis in the third sector on promoting equality and inclusivity) and are acting in a linguistically and culturally appropriate manner.

The scheme is administered by IAITH – Welsh centre for language planning, from the head office in Newcastle Emlyn.
