Estyn Llaw have been working with ‘Conwy Together’ (a group of housing associations which form part of the Conwy Big Community Voice portfolio), holding tenants forums. It’s been a great opportunity for tenants to come together to discuss issues. Llyr Hughes Griffiths AM and Sarah Rochira, The Older People’s Commissioner for Wales were invited to meet one of the groups. The tenants were given an opportunity to ask questions and enjoyed the opportunity to voice their opinions on some of the issues relevant to them.

A really worthwhile day was held in Colwyn Bay by Estyn Llaw and the group of organisation which form the Conwy Big Community Voice portfolio. Residents from across Conwy came together to look at dealing with problems and solving them.
Three sessions were held:
• problem solving
• collecting information and
• effective negotiation
A tool kit was created with valuable information showing how to break big problems into smaller chunks and how looking at things from a different perspective can help.
There was plenty of discussion and laughter in the room.
The main message from the event was that it is vital to tackle problems rather than hope they will disappear.
Sessions were held by Estyn Llaw in Dolwyddelan and Llanrwst recently. The aim was to reach out to those feeling isolated in their communities.
Those taking part were able to enjoy activities such as creating jewellery and cake decorating. They had the opportunity to chat, share experiences and also take part in some consultations.
By working in partnership with Menter Siabod and The Family Centre at Llanrwst we were able to offer these interesting sessions in rural communities.
The feedback received was very positive and further sessions are planned.
