Language and Diginity in Care - Conwy Big Community Voice
'Language and Dignity in Care' is a project that involves working with providers of care services in the public sector and the third sector in Conwy. Being able to ensure care services in both Welsh and English is becoming increasingly significant within the Dignity in Care agenda.
The aim of the scheme is to work with organisations in order to raise awareness of the linguistic requirements of people receiving care services, encouraging those organisations to change working practices where necessary, when dealing with service users - especially those people who belong to one or more of the 'priority groups'. These groups are recognised as young children, people with learning disabilities and other special needs, people with mental illnesses, and elderly people.
A key part of the scheme is to record 'evidence' of the language requirements of users in terms of service provision, as well as collecting examples of good practice. The aim will be to give service users a voice, and to hear their tales.
